Real-Time Process Control in Nanodispersion Manufacturing via Continuous Nanoparticle Size Monitoring
Controlling particle size during manufacturing is critical for the quality and performance of many nanoparticle-based products. However, real-time monitoring and adjustment have traditionally been difficult to achieve.
This article discusses how the NanoFlowSizer enables continuous, in-line measurement of particle size, allowing for real-time process control. By integrating the NanoFlowSizer with production equipment and applying automated feedback through the XsperGo software, manufacturers can adjust key process parameters like pressure and flow rate as production runs — minimizing variability and improving consistency.
Two applications are highlighted:
- High-Pressure Homogenization: Automated control of pressure to achieve and maintain target droplet size in nanoemulsions.
- Continuous Liposome Production: Real-time adjustment of flow rates to stabilize liposome size during manufacturing.
The results show that real-time particle size monitoring improves process efficiency, reduces the risk of overprocessing, and supports continuous manufacturing practices.
